About The New Studio
We have been located on the East Side of Manhattan for
the last six years; unfortunately, the building where we
were housed most of that time was recently sold. We
look forward to announcing our new location soon.
The members of the Studio are not only linked by a love
for the painted finish but also by a shared teaching
philosophy. Our respect for the past does not
interfere with an open-minded attitude towards new
techniques and new products. The curriculum is
constantly being improved and modified as new products
come on the market and as new ideas come to our
attention. It is our aim to increase the
efficiency and speed of the process, without
sacrificing the quality of the finished product. |

Classes are small, allowing individual
attention and support. They take place mornings,
afternoons, and evenings. Among our
students we list professionals, retirees,
designers, artists, and parents of young children. In scheduling the classes we make every
effort to be flexible and to take into account the busy
lives of our students.
We
provide a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere where
students are encouraged to reach their full potential. We are very committed to our beginners and feel that it is our
responsibility to help them discover their abilities and
to become confident in them. We want our students to
enjoy the art of painted finishes as much as we do, and
to feel that The New Studio is a haven where they can
escape the stresses of modern life and experience the
satisfaction of creating beautiful objects with their
own hands.
Once a year we like to hold an open house/ student show.
This is an opportunity for us to show our appreciation
for the hard work and dedication of our students and for
students to display all that they have accomplished.

now to view details or go to the schedule for the
next student show date.
We are also committed to
training as many teachers as possible. As part of
our philosophy we feel strongly that the preservation
of these techniques can only happen through an unbroken
chain of artisans capable of passing on this knowledge.
Just as our students come from all walks of life, our
teachers also come from varied backgrounds.
